It’s called, Why can’t we talk about periods? It’s something I’ve asked myself a lot. The majority of my knowledge of periods comes from things I’ve researched myself, not school or family.
Growing up I remember consciously going out of my way to make sure people didn’t know I was on my period. Why? It happens to everyone, why was it such a big secret?
I don’t remember being specifically told not to talk about periods, rather that it was a social norm to not say anything.
I’m glad people are more open now and the younger generation won’t have that ‘shame’ hanging over them.
